Privacy Policy
How Astro Lord collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
On this page
The short version. We use your birth details and location to calculate your astrology readings. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show third-party ads, and no AI service ever sees your details. Your period tracker stays on your phone. You can delete your account and data from the app at any time.
1. Who we are
This policy covers the Astro Lord app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, the website astrolord.in, and the Astro Lord API (together, “Astro Lord“, “we”, “us”). Astro Lord is run by Kulveer Singh, an individual (sole proprietor) based in India. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here.
Contact for anything in this policy: support@astrolord.in. Postal address: Abohar, Punjab, India.
2. What we collect
Details you give us
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Birth details: name, gender, date, time and place of birth (with its coordinates and time zone), for you and for any family or partner profiles you add | To calculate your kundli, dasha, matching and every personal reading. Gender is used for readings that differ by gender and to word results correctly. |
| Account: if you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple gives us and the email address you choose to share (this can be an Apple private relay address) | To create your account, keep your profiles in sync across your devices and contact you about your account. |
| Notes and reminders you write in the calendar or journal | To show them back to you and sync them across your devices. |
| Consultation requests: the question you write in Ask & Consult, its topic, and the birth details and city shown on the send screen | To pass your request to an astrologer, track it and reply in the app. |
| Coupon codes you redeem | To unlock what the code gives and stop a code being used twice. |
| Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp | To answer you. |
Details collected when you use the app
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Location, only if you allow it: your approximate current position. With “Update when I travel” on, the app checks it when you open the app and about every 10 minutes while it’s open, and updates your city if you’ve moved more than about 25 km or changed time zone. | Sunrise, Rahu Kaal, muhurat, panchang and every timing depend on where you are. It is also used for local weather in the live sky and for the Muhurat Map. If you don’t allow location, the app uses a city you choose. |
| Purchases: which plan or item you bought, when, its renewal state and Apple’s transaction ID. We never receive your card or bank details; Apple handles payment. | To unlock what you paid for and keep a record of sales for accounting and tax. |
| Technical data: IP address, device type, operating system and app version, time of each request, and error logs | To run the service, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix problems. |
| Notification token, if you allow notifications | To send the reminders and alerts you ask for. |
Kept only on your device
- Period tracker dates in the women’s health section are stored on your device and are not uploaded to your account.
- Reminders you set are scheduled as notifications on your device.
- Wallpapers you save go to your Photos library; the app asks only for permission to add photos.
People you add
When you add a family member, partner or someone else, you give us their birth details. Please add someone only if they would be happy for you to do so, and for a child, only if you are their parent or guardian. In Vibe Check, a “Someone new” person is used for that calculation and is not saved as a profile in your account.
What we don’t collect
We don’t use advertising identifiers, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, and we don’t buy data about you from anyone.
3. How we use your data
- To calculate and show your readings, charts, timings, calendars, maps and meters.
- To run your account, sync it across devices and restore it on a new device.
- To provide the plan or items you bought, and to handle renewals, cancellations and coupons.
- To pass your consultation requests to an astrologer and reply to you.
- To send reminders and alerts you’ve turned on, and important messages about your account or these policies.
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix errors.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting duties.
No AI. Astro Lord does not send your birth details, questions or any other personal data to an artificial-intelligence service, and we don’t use your data to train AI models.
No sale, no ads. We don’t sell or rent your personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
4. Our legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account, enter birth details, allow location or notifications, or send a consultation request; and for the legitimate uses the DPDP Act allows, such as providing a service you’ve asked for, meeting legal obligations, and responding to a request you make. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 9). Withdrawing it doesn’t affect processing that already happened, but without some data, such as birth details, the app can’t calculate your readings.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our bases are performance of our contract with you, your consent (location, notifications), our legitimate interests in running a secure service, and compliance with law.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run Astro Lord, and only what each one needs. They act on our instructions as our Data Processors.
| Provider | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (servers in Hyderabad, India) | Hosting our API, database and backups | All account data stored on our servers |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and subscriptions, push notifications, Apple Maps in the iPhone and iPad app | What Apple needs to provide those services; map views go to Apple when you use the map |
| RevenueCat | Checking subscription status across devices | An anonymous app user ID, purchase and renewal records |
| Open-Meteo | Local weather in the live sky | Rounded coordinates of your location, not linked to your name |
| CARTO, OpenStreetMap and Esri | Map images in the Mac app and the web version of the map | The map area you’re viewing and your IP address, as with any web map |
| Google (Android app, when available) | Google Maps on Android | Map views and the area you look at |
| Hostinger | Hosting this website and our email | Website visit logs and emails you send us |
WhatsApp. When you tap “Send to astrologer on WhatsApp”, the app opens WhatsApp with your message already written. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp. Once you do, WhatsApp (Meta) handles that message under its own privacy policy.
Required by law. We may disclose data if the law, a court or a government authority requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Astro Lord.
If Astro Lord changes hands. If the business is sold or merged, your data may pass to the new owner, who must keep this policy’s protections. We’ll tell you before that happens.
Business API customers. Businesses that use our API send us their own users’ details to calculate readings. We process those details for that business, which is responsible for its users’ consent and privacy notice.
6. Where your data is stored
Our servers and database are in India (Oracle Cloud, Hyderabad region). Some providers above, such as Apple and RevenueCat, may process data in other countries, including the United States. We only transfer data outside India as the DPDP Act allows, and we choose providers who protect it to a standard at least equal to this policy.
7. How long we keep it
- Account data (profiles, birth details, notes, settings): until you delete your account.
- Consultation requests: for as long as your account exists, so you can see past replies, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Backups: our nightly database backups are kept for 14 days and then overwritten, so deleted data disappears from backups within 14 days.
- Purchase records: for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, which can be up to 8 years. These records don’t include your birth details.
- Server logs: up to 90 days, unless needed longer to investigate abuse.
8. How we protect it
All connections between the app, the website and our servers are encrypted with HTTPS. The database runs on a private network that isn’t reachable from the internet, access to the admin panel needs a secret token, and only the people who need it to run Astro Lord can reach your data. No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we’ll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it, and who we’ve shared it with.
- Correction and completion: fix or complete inaccurate data. You can edit most details yourself in the app.
- Erasure: delete your account and data. In the app: Settings → Delete account. See Delete your account.
- Withdraw consent: turn off location or notifications in your device’s Settings, delete profiles, or delete your account.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
- Grievance redressal: complain to our Grievance Officer (section 11), and, if you’re not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the rights to data portability, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email support@astrolord.in from the email linked to your account (for Sign in with Apple, the address you shared or your relay address). We may ask you to confirm it’s you. We’ll reply within 30 days.
10. Children
Astro Lord is meant for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may add a child’s birth details as a family profile in their own account; by doing so they consent for the child. Some pages, such as intimate meters, are hidden for profiles under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we’ll delete it.
11. Grievance Officer
If you have a concern or complaint about how we handle your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer:
Kulveer Singh
Email: support@astrolord.in
Abohar, Punjab, India
We acknowledge complaints within 7 days and aim to resolve them within 30 days.
12. This website
astrolord.in doesn’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages visited, browser) for security. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only. If you log in to the site’s admin area, WordPress sets the cookies needed for that.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when Astro Lord changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires.
